  • Why I prefer being pet mum than having my own kids – Phyna

Former Big Brother Naija winner Phyna has spoken about her feelings towards love, companionship, and life priorities.

Phyna, in a recent video shared with her fans, said despite knowing she can conceive, she has no interest in having biological children.

According to her, she would prefer being a mother of pets.

In her words, “I’m very fertile, but I don’t have any desire to have a biological child. I just wanna be a cat and dog mum.”

Drawing from her own experiences, Phyna said women tend to develop emotional relationships with pets as they approach their 30s, especially after experiencing several failed relationships.

According to her, repeated heartbreaks can gradually influence how women view love and long-term commitment. Over time, the desire for peace and emotional stability may outweigh the pursuit of traditional romantic relationships.

For some, that shift leads to finding comfort and fulfilment in alternative forms of companionship.

Phyna suggested that she may have reached that point herself, where the calm and unconditional presence of animals offers exactly what she needs. In her words, “I think the love for animals in women kicks in when we’re approaching our 30s… especially when you don’t see yourself settling down.”

She continued by acknowledging the emotional toll of past experiences, adding that “Maybe you’ve been in too many broken relationships, you’ve gone through too many heartbreaks… So women tend to start developing a likeness for pets like that.”

For Phyna, this phase feels both natural and timely. “I think I’m in that stage. I think I’m in that stage right now,” she concluded, reinforcing her current mindset.

Her perspective has sparked conversations online, with many relating to her honesty while others debate societal expectations around marriage and motherhood. Regardless of differing opinions, her message highlights a growing shift in how modern women define happiness, companionship, and personal fulfilment.
